An Honest Glossier Review: My Favorite Products and Which Ones Weren't Worth the Hype

I am a longtime fan of Glossier. The millennial-favorite brand is known for their "skin first, makeup second" approach and easy-to-use products that fit into any routine. My collection of Glossier goodies is pretty expansive (see above) and for the most part, I've loved everything I've tried. However, a few products have risen to the top of my list while others just haven't worked for me. With the upcoming launch of their new handcream(!!), I figured it would be helpful to see which products I've fallen in love with (and which weren't worth it). Top Glossier Products

1. Cloud Paint ($18/10ml)

Cloud Paint is my ride or die, wear-it-everyday product. Even if I'm not wearing any other makeup, I always dab on a touch of this cream-gel blush for a subtly flushed glow. It's so easy to apply and a little goes a very long way (I've had a tube of this stuff for more than two years and I'm barely halfway through it!). It comes in six shades to suit a variety of skin tones and the coverage is easy to build up for more color. If you're going to buy one thing from Glossier, this should be it.

2. Stretch Concealer ($18/0.17oz)

Stretch Concealer is great to blur imperfections while keeping your skin looking like skin. It provides just enough coverage to conceal discoloration, pimples and dark circles without leaving you with cake face. I love it's elastic, microwax formula that prevents creasing, too!

3. Lash Slick ($16/0.29oz)

Lash Slick is my all-time favorite mascara! It does an amazing job of lengthening and defining lashes without clumping. Its formula is made with tiny fibers that coat lashes while being smudge-resistant. It's the perfect mascara when you want defined, yet natural-looking, lashes.

4. Skywash ($18/0.11fl oz)

Glossier's latest launch, Skywash is a liquid-to-powder eyeshadow that provides a sheer wash of matte color for your lids. I own this in two shades: Pool, a cornflower blue, and Echo, a cocoa brown. Fair warning, when they say sheer, they mean sheer. One coat of this color may not be enough depending on your skin tone (I've found that Pool needs at least two layers to show up well, while I can get away with just one layer of Echo). Despite needing to layer this product, I really like the longevity of the formula. Even on my oily lids, Skywash lasts a shocking amount of time without eyeshadow primer and it's easy to apply and smudge out with just your finger.

5. Generation G ($18/0.1oz)

Generation G is a nifty little matte lip color that gives the look and finish of just-blotted lipstick. While it can be a bit drying (I recommend using a bit of lip balm before applying), the color payoff is gorgeous. My favorite shade is Like, a light, cool pink that looks like my-lips-but-better.

6. Colorslide ($15/0.042oz)

Colorslide is a highly pigmented, waterproof gel eye pencil that comes in 14 different shades. I love it for its easy-glide formula and staying powder. My favorite shade is Brack, a brown-black color that I reach for when I want to really define my eyes.

7. Lidstar ($18/0.15oz)

Lidstar is a gorgeous, glimmering eyeshadow that comes in six shades. It's a cream-based product that, when applied, creates a sheer veil of shimmery color. I love this for ease of use (just swipe it on and dab it out with your finger!) and longevity.

8. Wowder ($22/0.25oz)

Wowder is a finishing and setting powder that provides a matte-not-flat finish. This powder helps to cut shine and blur the appearance of pores without giving you cake face. It also has a very helpful mesh covering that prevents the powder from spilling everywhere!

9. Balm Dotcom ($12/0.5fl oz)

One of Glossier's original products, Balm Dotcom is a hydrating lip balm made with castor oil, beeswax and lanolin. It comes in seven flavored formulas (Birthday is my favorite!) as well as the original unflavored version, which doubles as a universal skin salve. I have chronically dry lips thanks to a round of Accutane many moons ago, so I use this literally every day for smooth, hydrated lips.

10. Glossier You ($60/1.7fl oz)

This is my all-time favorite fragrance! You has creamy base notes (musk, ambrette and ambrox) and earthy, spicy top notes that aren't overpowering. It's also unique in that it adapts to your unique skin chemistry, so You smells a little different on everyone.

11. Solution ($24/4.4fl oz)

Solution is an exfoliating skin perfecter made with a 10% blend of Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) and Polyhdroxy Acid (PHA) to sweep away dead skin. I use it every other day and have found it makes my complexion look smoother and feel softer.

What Didn't Work for Me

1. Lip Gloss ($14/0.12fl oz)

I really wanted to like this lip gloss but it just doesn't seem that different from clear glosses you can get at the drugstore. I will say that it was pretty moisturizing and doesn't feel sticky like other glosses, but for me, it wasn't worth $14.

2. Brow Flick ($18/0.01oz)

I wanted to love Brow Flick. I really did love it at first. But the brush-tip pen that once let me draw on beautiful, tiny brow hairs dried up after the first couple of uses. I even tried storing it upside down to no avail. I had better success with Urban Decay's Brow Blade (which also comes with a brow pencil!).

3. Super Bounce ($28/1fl oz)

This hyaluronic acid + B5 serum is great, but The Ordinary has an identical serum for a fraction of the price.
